SGMT 1919

Segmented and fitted top, base and sections that I turned from salvaged mahogany plywood in between textured stoneware cylinders with latex paint and waterbased satin polyurethane clear coat.

I got lucky when firing this piece, as the clay wasn’t wedged enough and air bubbles developed in the clay body walls ( it could have exploded and damaged both the kiln and surrounding pieces).  After assembling , I “popped” some of the bubbles to add some unique texturing. Funky Folk Art.
